Section 218 amends the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, a “bargain” struck in 1978 wherein the usual requirements for a police search—probable cause to believe a criminal act had occurred and a warrant—would be unnecessary in a teeny, tiny number of cases. That teeny, tiny number of cases just expanded dramatically.

What it does: Secret searches can now be authorized by a secret court without public knowledge or Department of Justice accountability, so long as the government can allege there is any foreign intelligence basis for the search.

These cards will serve as more than a driver’s license, they will be ID proof acceptable nationwide because they will be based on uniform, and extensive, ID standards including an implant of an electronic device loaded with personal data.

According to testimony given before a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs subcommittee, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) does not have an accurate estimate of how much it will cost states to meet the federal mandate requiring them to issue new driver’s licenses and identification cards. States must come into compliance by the end 2009.

DHS officials told Congress the department used “speculative” data provided by states to estimate that it would cost them about $4 billion to comply with the REAL ID law. However, an analysis done by the National Governor’s Association, the National Conference of State Legislatures, and the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators in 2006 estimated states would need to spend about $11 billion over five years.

Beyond the huge cost of Real ID compliance, the issue boils down to our individual right to privacy weighed against government right to require and have information about us to protect our security. Critics say the act intrudes on individual liberties, tramples states rights and won’t improve security.

Critics such as David Corr, chair of the Bibb County Libertarian Party, said Real ID would create a national ID and could lead to government mischief.

“This bill will require a data base, each state has to have a data base which is linked and must be shared under the federal law with other states, and we think the potential for abuse is great,” Corr said. “We think the potential for abuse is great. We think the government ultimately will use this to basically spy on citizens.”

The war in Iraq was sold to us with false information. The area is more dangerous now than when we entered it. We destroyed a regime hated by our direct enemies, the jihadists, and created thousands of new recruits for them. This war has cost more than 3,000 American lives, thousands of seriously wounded, and hundreds of billions of dollars. We must have new leadership in the White House to ensure this never happens again.

Both Jefferson and Washington warned us about entangling ourselves in the affairs of other nations. Today, we have troops in 130 countries. We are spread so thin that we have too few troops defending America. And now, there are new calls for a draft of our young men and women.

We can continue to fund and fight no-win police actions around the globe, or we can refocus on securing America and bring the troops home. No war should ever be fought without a declaration of war voted upon by the Congress, as required by the Constitution.

Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations.

Too often we give foreign aid and intervene on behalf of governments that are despised. Then, we become despised. Too often we have supported those who turn on us, like the Kosovars who aid Islamic terrorists, or the Afghan jihadists themselves, and their friend Osama bin Laden. We armed and trained them, and now we’re paying the price.

At the same time, we must not isolate ourselves. The generosity of the American people has been felt around the globe. Many have thanked God for it, in many languages. Let us have a strong America, conducting open trade, travel, communication, and diplomacy with other nations.

Our continued presence in Iraq is serving as a recruiting tool for al-Qaeda. A recent National Intelligence Estimate found that the U.S. presence in Iraq has had a “rejuvenating” effect on the terrorist group. Proponents of the surge say that we are achieving victory. However, even if the level of our troops being killed has declined, they are still being targeted and the Iraqi government is no closer to stability, meaning that the violence will continue.

While we keep our focus on Iraq indefinitely, bin Laden remains free to plot his next attack, and can continue to portray us as occupiers and recruit more volunteers to his cause. Shortly after 9/11, I voted for the authorization to go into Afghanistan because it told the president to do what he already had the authority to do: go after the ones who directly hit us. I was extremely disappointed that the mission there changed to one of nation-building.

Each year the people of the United States write a check to subsidize China, one of the most brutal, anti-American regimes in the world. Lately it has been in vogue for everyone in Washington to eagerly denounce the egregious abuses of the Chinese people at the hands of their communist dictators. Yet no one in our federal government has been willing to take China on in any meaningful way.

Very few people realize that China is one of the biggest beneficiaries of American taxpayer subsidies. Thanks to the largesse of Congress and the President, China enjoys subsidized trade and the flow of US tax dollars into Beijing’s coffers.

I offered an amendment before the House of Representatives last month that would have ended the $4 billion subsidy our nation quietly gives China through the US government’s Export-Import Bank. The bank underwrites the purchases of goods and services by the Chinese government and others around the world. Unfortunately, only a minority of Democrats or Republicans supported my measure. Apparently, many members of Congress are happy to bash China, but don’t mind lending her U.S. taxpayer money at sweetheart interest rates.

Some of your money went to fund a nuclear power plant in Shanghai owned by the China National Nuclear Corporation, a state-run company. Many US-based multinational corporations benefit directly from Export-Import Bank subsidies to China, including Boeing, Westinghouse, and McDonnell Douglas. So it’s not hard to understand that business trumps the feelgood rhetoric condemning China.

There is no constitutional authority for Congress to make loans to any country, and certainly no basis for giving away the hard-earned cash of Americans to communist leaders who brutalize their women and children with forced abortions, and persecute Christians for their faith.

In reality, there is very little the federal government can do about conditions in China. Under our Constitution, the federal government simply does not have the authority to point a gun at Chinese leaders and force them to respect the principles of liberty. It just doesn’t work that way.

I believe that by engaging the Chinese people, opening personal dialogue, and seeking to change their hearts and minds, we soon will see that regime collapse. The laws of economics dictate that a communist system cannot stand for long. But in the same way, I firmly believe there is a higher law which dictates that people exposed to the principles of liberty will not for long allow themselves to remain shackled to an oppressive government. Economic freedom, i.e. capitalism, now has a strong foothold in China. The Chinese people may soon demand political, religious, and personal freedom as well. But in the meantime let’s stop sending tax dollars to support a government we claim to despise.

Icke’s core ideas are outlined in four books written over seven years: The Robots’ Rebellion (1994), … And the Truth Shall Set You Free (1995), The Biggest Secret: The Book that Will Change the World (1999), and Children of the Matrix (2001). The basic theory is that the world is controlled by a network of secret societies referred to as the “Brotherhood,” at the apex of which stand the “Illuminati” or “Global Elite.” The goal of the Brotherhood is a world government, a plan that Icke says was laid out in the anti-semitic hoax, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which Icke says are really the revealed plans of the Illuminati. Icke says the methods of these conspirators include control of the world’s economies and the use of mind-control techniques.

The Global Elite controls the Brotherhood and the world using what Icke calls a “pyramid of manipulation,” consisting of sets of hierarchical structures involving banking, business, the military, education, the media, religion, drug companies, intelligence agencies, and organized crime.

Icke cites the Holocaust, the Oklahoma City bombing, and the September 11, 2001 attacks as examples of events financed and organized by the Global Elite. British journalist Simon Jones writes that, according to Icke, “Ordinary people are being massively duped into believing that the ordinary course of world events are the consequence of known political forces and random, uncontrollable events. However, the course of humanity is being manipulated at every level. These individuals arrange for incidents to occur around the world, which then elicit a response from the public (’something must be done’), and in turn allows those in power to do whatever they had planned to do in the first place.” Icke refers to this as problem-reaction-solution,a variation of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel’s “Hegelian Dialectic”.

In 1994, President William Clinton authorized himself to place American soldiers under United Nations control by a completely new set of rules. Because he knew that this radical and unconstitutional policy would bring about demands for his impeachment, he then classified the document, so that not even your Senator or Representative in Congress can read it! As you can hear, Officer Gardner keeps repeating the victim should have followed his instructions. Sadly, overzealous cops have been given tools that enable them to terrorize Americans when they do not obey or cooperate (even when you are innocent of wrongdoing or do not understand what is going on). If you do not comply with law enforcement officers (it doesn’t matter if you are guilty of a crime or if there is a problem of mistaken identity, etc.), and if you resist arrest and obstruct justice (in the minds of the law), then you will be punished by handcuffing, jail time, fines, a criminal record, and now even the deadly TASER!

I suppose the time has come that when a citizen is told to do something by the police, they have several options… do it, be punished for it, or resist. American citizens are being pushed into a corner where they will soon need to arm themselves more heavily to be protected from the state police force. In this case, the terrorized wife might have protected her family by throwing that Jeep into reverse and pinning that pig against his patrol car the moment he pulled his taser out.

This is not an isolated incident. Numerous examples have been documented where police have overstepped the bounds of civility and meted out harsh and unjust treatment to innocent people.

Ex-NFL player Timothy Worley was tasered by Georgia police for “becoming confrontational” at a traffic stop according to news reports, but the video shows that the extent of Worley’s aggression was merely pointing at the cop and raising his voice.
