Don't confuse US Mint which makes coins from the Bureau of Engraving & Printing that prints paper money, US Treasury Bills, Notes & Bonds. The old United States Notes were replaced with Federal Reserve Notes. Both look virtually identical. Andrew Gause's correct that a United States Note should not cost the tax payers interest debt. US Treasury Bills, Notes & Bonds are IOUs investors buy to collect interest debt. China, Japan, Britain et al. buy them. In 1981, US Treasuries paid 15%.

if you think about it for a second, it's all pretty retarded. next question how many trillions worth of debt do we have to accumulate before people consider the US bankrupt? at what point would you consider yourself bankrupt? see what I mean? i still haven't figured out why they even keep track of our nations debt, it's not like it we'll ever pay it back. if someone said tomorrow i was 13 trillion in the whole and that number might be off by 20 trilion, can you see the look on my face?
