So if it is in the Consitution, then it is legal? Then that would mean that slavery from the time that the Consitution was signed untill the 14th amendment was passed. There is something called the 3/5ths compromise written in to the Constitution. So every time that the census was done a black person would count as 3/5ths of a person on the Constitution. And the census is what effected the number of reps were in the house of representatives.

Lyndehouse-----------There absolutely is EVERY reason to abolish the Fed and the very notion of fractional reserve lending/money creation! Why the heck should ANYONE have the power to create money from nothing, and FORCE the rest of us to use it? Do you realize just how AWESOME a power, and potential to ABUSE that power, this is? This is not even to mention the insanity of turning over Congress' monetary powers to a cabal of PRIVATE BANKERS! Completely unconstitutional!

The key is for the public to put pressure on Congressional legislators to make the Fed to be more transparent in their practices. This would lead to a stronger dollar and responsible interest rates. No need to abolish the Fed.

I willingly accept that no system is perfect. The federal government is not perfect, state governments are not perfect, neither is the federal reserve not perfect. However, I think that decentrialization is the answer. The issue of centralized banking is something that almost every country on this planet. If the federal reserve is abolished, are we going to go from country till all centralized banking is done away with?

Back when Tomas Jefferson was president he was given the opportunity to buy the Luisianna territory, he faced a dilema. France was selling the land extremely cheap, but Jefferson didn't believe that the president didn't have the authority to do so. The deal would have expired before he could pass a Constitutional amendment giving him authority to purchase the land. He made the purchase and by so doing showed the benfit of a central government.

If one wants to make sure that their money remains stable, ie doesn't decrease with inflation, then put it in an investment vehicle that has a higher rate of return then inflation. Even though the Constitution doesn't specifically say that the federal government can regulate banking, I think that the government should have the ability to regulate the banking industry. I know that policies like FDIC gives me confidence that if the bank goes bust then I will get my money back.
