@RetSquid Me? oh I'm doing ok... The British story was told to me by several teachers in several economics classes over the years, but I have seen it here on YT too. I won't argue the point because I have not looked into it myself, but most the other stuff I leaned there turned out to be good info. I'm pretty sure it;s true though. take care!

@uturniaphobic You might want to find a different Historical reference other than YouTube. The Brits didn't care, either way they would resume trade when the war was over. They just didn't want to support the losing side. I'm not getting the truth from historians but YOU are getting the truth from historians?

@uturniaphobic Lincoln was killed in 1865, 4 years after the income tax was initiated. And it was called an income tax.

@RetSquid no the foreign bankers had him knocked off because he funded the Civil war with his own fiat currency. Look it up it's all over even you tube. The Brits were also very much for the South winning. all that cotton and tobacco. There was covert activity there as well. We're just not getting the straight truth from historians. How've you been, RetSquid, btw

@uturniaphobic Lincoln was killed at a bank? I thought it was a theater? LOL!!
uturniaphobic (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@prof5string yes right after the Banks killed Lincoln and his fiat currency. but it was called something else and I can't remember the name of the tax. sorry for being a dumb ass. I'll try to watch that.

@uturniaphobic Funny how you don't know that the federal income tax started in 1861, not 1913.

"When a government is dependent upon bankers for money, they and not the leaders of the government control the situation, since the hand that gives is above the hand that takes. Money has no motherland; financiers are without patriotism and without decency; their sole object is gain." - Napoléon Bonaparte"The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the people versus the banks." - Lord Acton
