Read Bischoff's book Controversy Creates Cash. It gives you the whole inside look in to the formation of nWo and how Hall and Nash came back to WCW and how Hogan got involved. But, the Time/AOL fiasco is what eventually did in the WCW, not the booking or story lines. Turner was a huge supporter of Bischoff and WCW, but he was bought out during the merger leaving Bischoff without an ally in the merged company. After he was forced out in 1999, WCW was finished.

Man, this was WCW at its best but only because hall and nash had great story skillz here. Booking however, who won what, was not so great, especially when it came to hogan. This seemed so real, they stopped a match and left the show like this for a while! Their opportunity to kill the WWF was in 97 at Starrcade, had Sting won clean, it would be over, but hogan wanted to look good. It looked like he dominated sting and there was no fast count, screwed the WCW after that.
