Doom and gloom. hahaha. This all may be true but it doesn't matter. Although our cuisine and music may be lost, the power of rust is irrefutable. Eventually, a culture doing the right things will overtake and eat us. True rightness prevails in the run longer than the count of historical memory.

you would own the gold if your money was backed by silver or gold. Until 1971 our monay was backed by gold now it is not and thats called Fiat money system. A dollar that is nothing but paper and every fiat money system has always failed and this one is trying to, with the way our financial system has been cheated and manipulated by wall street. Now your taxes dollars are going to bail them out. How does it feel?

I have one comment to make. How can going to a gold standard change anything like what Ron Paul Advocates. Did any of you guys here of the old saying: "he who owns the gold makes the rules". So how would going to a gold standard change anything since the people don't own the gold?

Only thing is, the nation wasn't founded as a democracy. All one needs to do, is read the books, The Federalist Papers, Anti-Federalist Papers, and Common Sense. Time and again the founders state the degeneration of democracy to a totalitarian state. And time after time they speak of the nation being a republic.And to keep the republic from degenerating, those who are elected to office, should be bound to a constitution to keep them from mischief as Jefferson fealt very strongly about this.
