Scientific studies of harm/addiction should determine the classification of drugs. (even alcohol overdose, known as 'alcohol poisoning' is only around 8x level of intoxication to DIE!). Cigarettes are highly addictive! Marijuana is a mild form of intoxication, impossible to overdose on that is NOT a highly addictive or harmful form of intoxication. Our current prohibition on marijuana is inefficient, ineffective, costly, and puts criminals in business

Marijuana is a less harmful/addictive form of intoxication than alcohol/cigarettes.During alcohol prohibition,people knew moderate responsible alcohol consumption's harmless.Alcohol prohibition inadvertently put criminals in business who were only able to give people what wanted/couldn't obtain otherwise.waste resources manufacturing 'non violent criminals' choosing less harmful/addictive form of intoxication.Otherwise productive member of society in jail,other taxpayers pay for him to sit there

Congressman Ron Paul is 100% correct.Hemp was grown in the u.s. up untill it was made illegal in 1937 H.R. 6909 with the help and influence of the oil,timber,petrol-chemical giant Du Pont, just to name a few. every thing that is produced from oil,can be produced with Hemp, Hemp contains over 70% cellulose, that is energy! Stoners are the only ones who care about death by marijuana overdose. Seriously---the rest of us could not care less. In fact, if marijuana immediately killed the user, that would be an argument FOR legalization, not against it. Suicide is legal, after all, and immediate death would keep people from trying to drive, work, operate machinery, teach, learn, or parent children while baked out of their minds. It would also reduce the number of cases of testicular cancer, psychosis, and delusions.

Highly addictive and harmful drugs are a sickness, once a person is addicted they no longer have the choice to decide it is so addictive. Marijuana is NOT a highly addictive and harmful drug. Alcohol overdose is only something like 8x the level of intoxication to result in DEATH! (known as 'alcohol poisoning'). Not a single known case of death from marijuana overdose

Actually, drinking itself is a crime, if you're underage, drinking absinthe (pre-2007), are doing it in a car, or have an open container in public or in a vehicle. Not too bright.Of course people have a RIGHT to impose their opinions and doctrines on others. That's called government, society, civilization. We have an opinion and doctrine that murder is wrong, we voted, and now we impose that on those who voluntarily choose to live in this country. That's all. The alternative is anarchy.

we are not debating if breaking the law is illegal. We are debating if the current law should be consistent, if drugs should be classified based on scientific studies of harm and addiction instead of public opinion and emotion. The truth stands for itself and doesn't rely on repressing scientific studies. YOU don't have the RIGHT to impose your opinion, your doctrines, your religion, etc on another person. Driving Drunk is a crime, NOT drinking!

Murderers and rapists tend not to receive the "same punishment" as non-violent drug users. That's just silly. But if you want to further reform prison or sentencing laws, that's fine. It's just that that has zero to do with legalizaing all drugs.Marijuana users never drink, smoke, or take other drugs? Really? What a hilarious claim!!!Drug users violate others' rights all the time. Impairing concentration, focus, and decision-making ability is kind of the point of many illegal drugs.
