IRS Targets Patriot Groups — 2 Comments

  1. Despite the claims of Elijah Cummings (D-MD) that there was nothing more to learn in the IRS scandal, in hearings today we did learn more. Cincinnati-based IRS employee Elizabeth Hofacre said she had been “deeply offended” by attempts to blame rogue agents in Cincinnati. Washington-based IRS lawyer Carter Hull testified that even after he had recommended that certain Tea Party applications be approved, the approval was held up for further review by the office of the Chief Counsel of the IRS and other high-level officials. That Chief Counsel position is a political appointment by the White House… so the scandal does indeed go as far as the White House. Only time will tell how far up in the White House it goes.
