IRS Targets Patriot Groups
It comes as no surprise to learn the IRS has been targeting conservative groups such as the Tea Party and other groups critical of the federal government for greater scrutiny. After all, the IRS is the enforcement arm and collection agency to keep the privately owned Federal Reserve ponzi scheme afloat.
The Washington Post reports, at various points over the past two years, Internal Revenue Service officials targeted nonprofit groups that criticized the government and sought to educate Americans about the U.S. Constitution, according to documents in an audit conducted by the agency’s inspector general. The report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration shows that the targeting of patriots and Tea Party groups began as early as March 2010, and that the head of the IRS tax-exempt organizations division was specifically told about this targeting in June 2011.
Even though the IRS knew exactly what was going on, IRS officials vehemently denied that targeting of patriot and Tea Party groups was taking place in response to five different congressional inquiries between November 18th, 2011 and June 15th, 2012.
“This is obviously disturbing,” said Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Committee, in a USA Today article. “Coming within a week of revelations that the White House lied to the American people about the Benghazi attacks and the IRS targeted conservative Americans for their political beliefs, Americans should take notice that top Obama Administration officials increasingly see themselves as above the law and emboldened by the belief that they don’t have to answer to anyone.”
The Internal Revenue Service has “apologized” for harassing patriot and Tea Party groups. The political groups were inappropriately flagged for additional reviews during the 2012 election to determine if they were in violation of their tax-exempt status. The IRS searched for the words “patriot” and “tea party” in applications.
Lois Lerner, who oversees the IRS unit on tax-exempt groups, said the federal government tax agency had singled out patriot groups for special treatment after complaints the agency asked the groups an inordinate number of questions to justify their tax-exempt status.
Also coming as no surprise is the Marxist inspired leftist media coming to the defense of the IRS and the 2nd Plank of Communism. MSNBC’s Ed Schultz said, “Am I defending the IRS? Yeah I am! I am, I am. This is how we run the government.” Lawrence O’Donnell said on his MSNBC program, The Last Word, that “it is really just the IRS doing it’s job.” How disgusting! And these people claim to be Americans?
The harassment is reminiscent of Cointelpro tactics used by the government. Beginning in the late 1950s, the FBI enlisted the IRS to conduct selective tax audits of political organizations and individuals, including civil rights leader Martin Luther King.
Mike Adams at Natural News reminds us that beginning January, 2014, the IRS will become the enforcement arm of Obamacare. Part of this enforcement will include demanding private health insurance status information and ID numbers from all Americans. Anyone who refuses to provide this information will be financially penalized (i.e. “fined”) an amount that increases each year until it reaches a penalty of $2,085 per family or 2.5% of your income, whichever is greater.
Given that the IRS has proven it is a criminal enterprise that uses its power to intimidate political opponents of the Obama administration, writes Adams, a very likely tactic to be pursued by the agency will include punitive scrutiny of any who refuse to participate in Obamacare mandates. If you refuse to get Obama-mandated health insurance, in other words, and opt to pay the IRS penalty instead, you may be subjected to extra scrutiny by the IRS in exactly the same way conservative non-profits were targeted by the IRS over the last four years.
Despite the claims of Elijah Cummings (D-MD) that there was nothing more to learn in the IRS scandal, in hearings today we did learn more. Cincinnati-based IRS employee Elizabeth Hofacre said she had been “deeply offended” by attempts to blame rogue agents in Cincinnati. Washington-based IRS lawyer Carter Hull testified that even after he had recommended that certain Tea Party applications be approved, the approval was held up for further review by the office of the Chief Counsel of the IRS and other high-level officials. That Chief Counsel position is a political appointment by the White House… so the scandal does indeed go as far as the White House. Only time will tell how far up in the White House it goes.
