The Worlds Water Crisis
Most people feel that our planet has an abundant supply of water, but this is not true. In reality, the world is experiencing a water disaster that will get worse as the population of the world continues to increase. More and more people are not going to have access to safe and clean drinking water. What is Causing the Water disaster During the last century the population of the world has more than tripled. Within the next 50 years the population of the world will grow by another 40-50%, which will further strain water supplies around the globe. When you add boosted industrialization and urbanization to the expanding population this results in an ever growing desire for water. There are already millions of people today that lack clean drinking water and sanitation, the over variables will make the situation worse.
Millions of individuals Lack Drinking Water and Sanitation almost 1 out of every 6 people today do not have safe drinking water, this equals virtually 1.1 billion men and women. There is already a greater amount of waste materials water created and dispersed now than during any past time in the history of the world. Roughly 2 in 6 individuals, or 2.6 billion people today, do not have proper sanitation. 3900 children die every day from waterborne diseases. The bad news about these numbers is they only represent individuals that are living in very poor conditions. If you were to add all areas of the world to these numbers the figures would be much higher. Water Resources are turning out to be more Scarce Agriculture is using up a great deal of our water supplies. In many areas of the world more that 66% of all water supplies are used for watering. In arid regions of the world this number can be as high as 90%. homes use 10% of the offered water, business uses 20%, and 4% of all water is evaporation from reservoirs.
Water Stress
Water stress is brought about by the fact that we use more water than we have water resources. Water stress is critical all around the world which means that the water disaster is starting to be more critical. Water stress drastically impacts the amount of fresh water resources. It will effect both the top quality and quantity of water that is readily available for people today to consume.
The results of the Water crisis As the water disaster intensifies there will be an raise in tensions among users. These tensions will be between all users, local, national, and worldwide users will all be struggling with the lack of water. Part of these tensions will be induced mainly because all through the world more than 260 rivers run through more than one country. This can lead to tensions as two independent countries fight over water rights. If there are not sturdy institutions, and robust agreements in location these tensions could easily escalate. How to prevent the Water disaster turning into Worse There are issues that can be done to keep the water crisis from changing into worse. The key point that requirements to be done is that water supplies need to be managed superior in all locations of the world. Poor water management is a big part of the reason we are in disaster now. One of the key matters that folks need to know is that water conservation is every persons’ responsibility. All of us need to do our part to ensure that we have clean, safe water in the future.
